General APSS Needs

  • virtual adoption parties
  • sponsoring 12 month subscriptions to DNA Genetic
    testing services (i.e 23 and Me, Ancestry.com)
  • birth parent scholarship for vocational/education training
  • expanding the APSS Mentoring program by 100% via enhanced
    APSS mentor recruitment
  • funds for radio spot public service announcements
  • seed money for annual adoption walk-a-thon that will fund vocational
    and college scholarships for adoptees
  • directed financial assistance programs. mini-grants to cover needed
    food, rent, utilities, mental health assessments that Five Acres
    cannot cover
  • funding a distinguished speaker series of renowned adoptions experts
    who would present at quarterly APSS community education seminars
  • funding for more non-traditional therapy (i.e. equine therapy,
    specialized psychological testing services) that Medi-Cal may
    not cover
  • financial literacy classes for adolescents and young non-minor
    dependents
  • funding summer internships for youths 16-24 to gain experience
    in companies of diverse fields like medicine, information technology
    social work, engineering
