Step 1
Contact our Recruiter/Trainer, Gabriela Castro, or sign up for an orientation class at GabrielaCastro@5acres.org.

Step 2
Attend orientation class. Learn the basics about foster care and adoption and get all your questions answered.
Step 3
Complete the application packet. A physical and TB screening are needed. Also required is a DMV printout, criminal clearances for each adult in your home, and other miscellaneous documentation.
Step 4
Training classes. Complete 24 hours of training. Example topics covered include child development, attachment, and the effects of trauma and loss. CPR training is also required.
step 5
Assessment. A Home Study Specialist will visit your home, interview your family and write an assessment. Topics explored include your family, health history and motivation for wanting to become a Resource Parent. A home inspection will also be completed.
step 6
Resource Parent Approval! When all the steps are completed you will become an official Resource Family. Here is where your journey begins.
