Five Acres Announces 30th Annual Golf Classic & Mad for Plaid Par-Tee
Event will raise critical funds for local children and families

[Altadena, Calif] August 14, 2017 – Five Acres, San Gabriel Valley’s oldest nonprofit, will celebrate its 30th Annual Golf Classic and Mad for Plaid Par-Tee on September 18, 2017 at a private golf club in Pasadena. The event will raise critical funds to support children and families in Los Angeles and will also recognize past chairs for their contribution to Five Acres’ mission.

Following the 18-hole golf tournament, guests are invited to don their finest plaid for Scottish-themed Mad for Plaid Par-Tee. The evening will include cocktails in the “Tartan Tavern” along with dinner, dancing and live entertainment. Sensational auction items include an 8-day Viking Cruises river cruise, helicopter ride and priceless guitar autographed by Maroon 5.

To honor 30-years of community support, a special honorary committee of former chairs will receive special recognition.

“Our past chairs have been champions for Five Acres’ mission to help kids and families thrive, setting examples for others to join the cause,” said Bolton & Company’s Brad Reaume, Title Sponsor and former Five Acres golf chair. “The 30th golf classic anniversary is the ideal opportunity to honor that work and inspire future leaders.”

Providing them with summer fun creates a sense of belonging and normalcy in their lives.

June Date TBD, details coming soon

Dear Five Acres Friends,

Five Acres is committed to the health and safety of our family, including the children in our care, our staff, volunteers, supporters and community. In light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 updates by the World Health Organization, CDC and federal as well as local government, Five Acres has established a Pandemic Prevention Protocol to limit the transmission of COVID-19 and to protect the well-being of our community.

This past weekend, the CDC advised against gatherings of 50 or more people over the next eight weeks and today that guidance dropped to gatherings of 10 people or more. Based on these guidelines, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Five Acres Sunsets in Santorini Gala, scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at the beautiful home of Diane and John Vidalakis. We look forward to rescheduling this special event to celebrate the work of child welfare advocates and supporters of Five Acres at a later date.

Please accept our deepest gratitude for your continued commitment to our mission of helping more children connect with permanent, loving families.  Your support is needed now, more than ever, as we strive to protect the Five Acres children in our care and the dedicated staff who support our mission.

We are living in exceptional times and events are evolving rapidly. Over the coming weeks, we encourage you to balance the need to stay healthy and care for your family as we do the same for the community and children of Five Acres. Stay well and thank you for your support!

For any questions you may have regarding the gala, please contact the Advancement Office at 626.773.3776 or events@5acres.org.

Wishing you well and safe,

[Altadena, Calif] May 25, 2017 – Floe Financial Partners is supporting Five Acres, a child and family service agency, in tandem with the investment firm’s 30th anniversary. This will include a relationship of the two organizations at Five Acres events and on other public platforms. The sponsorship provides Five Acres and Floe Financial Partners the opportunity to extend the reach of both organizations and advocate for the more than 20,000 children currently living in foster care in L.A. County. The collaboration also highlights both organizations’ commitment to the safety and well-being of the children and families in our community.

“I’ve been a supporter of Five Acres since 1990. During these years they have prospered and provided life-saving services to thousands of children and families. We consider Five Acres as a ‘home run’ investment!” said Rob Floe, President and CEO of Floe Financial Partners.

Since 1987, Floe Financial Partners, Inc. has enabled individuals, families, charities, and corporations to work toward their financial goals. The firm currently manages more than $400 million in client assets through their association with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC. Floe Financial Partners serves clients as a fee-based asset manager, providing investment advice as an independent advisory practice. Investment products and services are offered through Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC (WFAFN), Member SIPC. Floe Financial Partners is a separate entity from WFAFN.

Rob Floe has been advising private clients, charitable organizations and companies since 1987. He has served on the advisory board to the president of Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network. He has also served on the boards of non-profit organizations in the community for the past 25 years. Rob is a longstanding Five Acres supporter and advocate, having served on the agency’s board of directors and as an ambassador from 2009–2014.

As noted by Five Acres’ Chief Advancement Officer Jennifer Berger, the relationship is a reflection of Floe’s long-time commitment to the Five Acres’ mission. “As an almost 130-year-old agency committed to serving children and families, working with Rob Floe and Floe Financial Partners in celebration of their 30 years helping families in the community with financial services and dedication to nonprofits is an honor. Thank you!”

[Altadena, Calif] – Five Acres has received a $1 million dollar gift from the Helen and Will Webster Foundation to improve and enhance all eight of the residential cottages located on the organization’s main campus in Altadena. The gift has been made in honor of Helen Webster, who passed away in February 2017.

This extremely generous contribution follows two gifts made by the family foundation in 2016, which were designated to help install keyless access on all of the main campus perimeter doors and replace the hallway carpets and flooring in the residential cottages.

“We are honored and greatly appreciative of the Helen and Will Webster Foundation for their wonderful generosity and concern for the children living at Five Acres. Transformative gifts like these truly make it possible to provide the best services to our clients for many years to come,” said Chanel Boutakidis, Five Acres Chief Executive Officer.

The Helen Webster Cottage Care Project will support critical improvements to the comfort and safety of Five Acres’ residential cottages, helping children heal and thrive. The project will begin in 2017 and is set to be completed in 2018, which also marks Five Acres’ 130th Anniversary. The residential cottages house approximately 80 children, ages 6-14, on the Five Acres campus. The residential treatment program provides intensive, temporary out-of-home care and therapeutic services for children and their families, as well as transitional shelter care for girls with a focus on sibling sets.

The Helen Webster Cottage Care Project will enhance the well-being and care of the children living at Five Acres who are working towards reunification with their biological families or foster care or adoption placements.

“As a fellow Five Acres supporter, we are so appreciative of and grateful for Rich Webster and his family for providing needed cottage improvements to ensure the safety and comfort of children in residential treatment,” said longtime benefactor and former Board Chair Andrew Crowell. “Thank you to Rich and the Webster Family Foundation for being advocates and supporters of the children of Five Acres, both now and for years to come.”

“Helping vulnerable children and families in crisis is very important to my entire family,” shared Rich Webster, speaking on behalf of the Helen and Will Webster Foundation. “This gift honors my parents’ vision and heart for children, and will be a lasting and meaningful expression of my mother’s legacy. We hope our support brings hope and healing to the children living at Five Acres during this transitional time in their lives.”
